So I'm Working On a Project...

A few days ago when I was playing the Galacticraft mod on Minecraft, I began to think a lot about space, celestial bodies, and advanced technology. I really wanted to do something related to space in real life, so since I can't actually go there, what if I was to make a VPN that can route internet traffic through other planets, moons, and even stars?

That's right, I'm working on developing the first ever interstellar VPN. It will be in the form of a Chrome extension, and it will be distributed completely for free. I probably won't be able to publish it to the Chrome Web Store because I highly doubt Google would accept it, but rest assured that I will still provide a download link on my website.

I can't help but wonder why nobody has developed an interstellar VPN yet. Maybe nobody has thought about it, maybe they don't think it's possible. However, I am very confident that it is indeed possible, as anything can be accomplished using a bit of programming. But just because something is possible doesn't mean it's easy. It will probably take me at least a few weeks to complete. (It'll probably take me the longest time to figure out how to execute JavaScript code within a Chrome extension though 😂).

I plan to at least cover all the planets in our solar system, as well as a few moons. I also want to attempt to cover planets from other solar systems throughout the Milky Way. If I'm feeling a bit crazy, I may even try to add a feature that can route internet traffic through stars such as the Sun!

I haven't officially decided on a name for the VPN yet but for now I'm calling it GalaxySafe.

You're probably wondering about latency, and how I'm going to establish fast connections with planets that are millions or even billions of miles away, or even exoplanets that are thousands of light years away. To do so, you would need to have electromagnetic waves that travel faster than the speed of light, right?

Wrong. In another VPN project I'm working on, which is an Earth-only VPN for Windows XP, I'm implementing a feature where users can customize latency time from 1 to 10000 milliseconds, which proves that latency is not an involuntary system that is beyond our control but rather a very controllable technology. Using a similar approach, I can allow users on Earth to connect to other celestial bodies and not feel a dent on their internet speed.

I do feel like GalaxySafe, if enough people find it, could significantly impact space travel for the better. In the future, when humans begin terraforming Mars, astronauts could quickly and easily communicate with Earth. All they would need is a computer and a working power source to charge it.

That would conclude today's post. I hope to get GalaxySafe finished and released sometime within the next few months. So tell your friends!
